SEMINAR ON 3D OPTICAL DATA STORAGE TECHNOLOGY : 3D optical data storage is a form of optical data storage(like CD,DVD) in which information can be recorded and/or read with three dimensional resolution.It has the possible to provide terabyte-level mass storage on DVD-sized disks. Here Data recording and readback on disks are done by focusing lasers within the medium.because of the volumetric nature of the data structure, the laser light need to travel through other data points before it reaches the point where reading or recording is needed. Therefore, some kind of non-linearity is necessary to ensure that these other data points do not interfere with the addressing of the desired point.
