Radio Network Controller

SEMINAR ON Radio Network Controller :A radio network controller (RNC) provides the interface between the wireless devices that communicate through node B transceivers and the network edge. This includes control and management of the radio transceivers in the computer node B, and management tasks such as the progressive transfer.

The RNC performs a similar 3G wireless network base station controller (BSC) in a 2G or 2.5G network. It connects to GPRS service nodes (SGSN) and gateway (GGSN) to mediate with providers of network services.

Radio Network Controller manages hundreds of base stations Node B, while the wiring and commissioning of the Mobile Switching Center, and the 3G network interfaces. Contact RNC and Node B is called Plan layer user interface and use the RNC T1/E1 transport.

Due to the large number of transceivers Node B, is an aggregator of T1/E1 used to provide data in Node B channelized OC-3 optical transport for the RNC. The OC-3 pipes can be a direct connection to the RNC or through the transmission network traditional SONET / SDH.

A typical radio network controller can be built or Advanced TCA PICMG platform. It contains a number of different cards in the performance of specialized functions and interacts with various interfaces RNC.
